Position Overview

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Iowa is seeking a full-time instructional-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor of Instruction, Associate Professor of Instruction, or Professor of Instruction to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, with the potential to engage in clinical supervision and/or administrative responsibilities depending on the candidate’s strengths and interests. We are looking for a versatile educator to join our team and contribute to the academic and clinical development of our students. This is an instructional-track (non-tenure) faculty position with opportunities for promotion if criteria are met (Associate Professor of Instruction, Professor of Instruction). The position is renewable in one-year increments for the first three years, and renewable thereafter in three- or five-year increments (depending on rank).

Responsibilities
 

Teach a range of undergraduate and/or graduate courses, potentially including:

  • Language Disorders (Birth to 18 Years)
  • Anatomy and Physiology of Speech
  • Basic Neuroscience for Communication Disorders
  • Introduction to Voice Disorders
  • Neurological and Structural Disorders of Swallowing
  • Option to provide clinical supervision for graduate students in our on-campus
  • Option to assist with the coordination and administration of the undergraduate program, including curriculum development and student advising.
  • Participate in departmental and professional
  • Contribute to ongoing assessment and development of clinical and academic

Requirements

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or a related field awarded by the position start date of August 20, 2025.
  • Experience teaching in a college or university
  • Expertise in one or more of the following areas: language development and disorders, voice disorders, and/or swallowing disorders.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience teaching both undergraduate and graduate
  • ASHA certification (CCC-SLP).
  • Clinical supervision
  • Administrative
